Škoda Transportation is one of Europe’s leading public transport vehicle manufacturers.
Škoda Transportation has a history of activity in mechanical engineering stretching back almost 160 years. The company currently focuses mainly on the development and manufacture of modern vehicles for public municipal transport and for railways.
Škoda Transportation’s main products include low-floor trams, electric locomotives, metro trains, suburban train units, trolleybuses, and electric buses, as well as traction engines and complete powertrains for transport systems.
The company invests considerable funds in research and development. It employs more than 700 highly-trained engineers and designers, which helps it to launch industry-leading products on global markets on a regular basis.
Škoda Transportation has several subsidiary companies. In the Czech Republic, these include Škoda Electric, Škoda Vagonka and Pars nova. It also has subsidiary companies in Germany, Poland, Hungary, and Russia. In Finland, it owns Transtech, the biggest manufacturer of rolling stock in Scandinavia. Škoda Transportation Group employs more than 5,000 people across its companies.
