Futuroom – International training center and newsroom of the future

In May 2009, PPF Media, in cooperation with the World Association of Newspapers, inaugurated an International Multi-Media Training Center known as  Futuroom  (Prague Multimedia News Lab) in Prague. of the objective of the center is to become a hub for media-related education and training in the region of Central and Eastern Europe, including countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Futuroom also serves as the central editorial office for all of the regional newspapers and periodicals grouped under Naše adresa.

Futuroom offers media-related education and training focused on regional media and modern journalism in the environment of a purpose-built newsroom equipped with the latest technologies.

A special program, Junioroom, is aimed at children and teenagers. Here they can get first-hand experience of what it is like to be a journalist. They learn to use the latest state-of-the-art technologies in a fun, entertaining and age-appropriate way.

Futuroom Publishing not only produces advertising supplements for all of the Naše adresa group periodicals and its TV magazine, but also offers graphics processing services, editorial support and the production of special client-oriented magazines (B2B, B2C) for commercial customers, local governments, government institutions or non-governmental organizations. Our Address/Naše adresa – Hyperlocal reader-assisted media

Since June 2009, PPF Media has been operating a network of regional weeklies under the name Our Address/Naše adresa in selected districts of the Czech Republic, which are integrated with news websites bearing the same name. Both the print media and web pages focus on events in a given region and its municipalities, making use of the direct involvement of readers, members of local clubs and associations, internet users and members of social networks.

Within the framework of the abovementioned project, PPF Media also operates a chain of cafés known as Café Naše adresa, which are not only regular cafés offering a full range of cold and hot drinks and light snacks, but also serve as places where local reporters and advertising consultants can meet and find a safe haven. The cafés also provide a number of additional services, such as online ticket sales and film developing.

The purpose of the cafés is to offer the readership “obstacle-free” access to reporters and editors, allowing direct interaction between media and the populace, thus fostering the full involvement of the readership in the creation and development of the contents of the local periodical. Moreover, the cafés serve as a “neutral venue” for various discussions, meetings and mini-conferences of the populace, local governments, the business community and journalists. Last but not least, the cafés  provide media education courses for children and adults (for example, a “How a newspaper is born” course for elementary and secondary schools).
